About The Band
In December of 2005, First United Methodist Church in San Diego put out a request for substitute musicians for the Christmas Eve Contemporary Service (most of the regular musicians were out of town for the holiday). Stephanie Wright was already singing and playing guitar in the band. Jerry Tucker volunteered to play bass for the service. After the Christmas service, Jerry was invited to stay on as the permanent bassist. After playing together for 7 years, Jerry invited Stephanie to audition for his Blues Band "Coyote Blues Redemption
". She was immediately accepted One day Stephanie and Jerry were discussing music styles and specific band genres and the idea to form a "cross-genre" band came up. With Stephanie on vocals and guitar, Jerry on backup vocals and bass or guitar, the duet suddenly became a reality. The band will also, depending on the mix of music for each show, invite local guitarists, harmonica, keyboard players and drummers to sit in with the band. Each show will have a different 'flavor'. Many talented local musicians will be showcased.
The Band Name: Chasing Dreams
The band name was born when the founders, Jerry and Stephanie, each seperately pondered what to call the band. Jerry eventually came up with "Wright Stuff Band" because Stephanie is taking the lead on most songs. Stephanie spent a long time pondering and reached a little deeper... She noted that in forming this band, we are dedicated to sharing a unique band style and we're both chasing our musical dreams. Hence the name: ♫♪ Chasing Dreams ♫♪
